I take back what I said about being a flash genius...I'm currently STRUGGLING with making a simple new header for my website! All it needs to do is open web pages when you click on a button...but nope! I even thought converting back to action script 2.0 would work...but nope! I'll figure it out eventually...and when I do, there will be a new header that doesn't look too terribly different than it does now, but it'll be way cooler because it's flash!

Where the hell have I been?
Good question. Maybe it was the awesome directors' surprise in St. Augustine. Maybe it was packing up and moving everything out of my apartment to a warehouse in Tallahassee. Maybe it was finishing up my final days of class working on some projects so that I could graduate. Maybe it was in New York, spending a few very long days pounding the pavement in search of an apartment. We ended up with a great apartment on the Upper East Side, I guess in what's called Yorkville. Or maybe it was interviewing at BBDO for a job on the Gillette account - I spent a couple days with that. Went well, and now I'm playing the waiting game, hoping to hear from them very soon. It could have been I was busy figuring out everything graduation weekend. Maybe I was busy graduating. Maybe I was busy figuring out the rest of my life. Maybe I was busy trying to enjoy my final days of college at the University of Florida.
Maybe, just maybe, I was preparing to take on the rest of the world.

RSS!
YES! RSS! I wasn't ever really big on it. It didn't really make sense to me for news sites (i only tried using it with NYT) since it was all posted chronologically, but I really didn't care about local New York stuff (I will soon, though!). I wanted it arranged by topic and it was too difficult having to click then search, etc. But I have finally realized its full potential: BLOGS! Because of my recent interest in blogs, I've begun spending (see: wasting) a lot of time on blogs. But one thing I hate is going to check a blog, only to realize it hasn't been updated. Enter RSS. Using Apple's Mail app, I can have it automatically give me the new posts to any blog that has a feed. No more need to go check on these blogs only to find I wasted my time for nothing. Woo hoo! If you haven't subscribed to my feed yet (I don't really blame you if you haven't), and are too lazy to click the link over on the right, then you can find it here:

What the hell, people?!?!
Just another sign that we live in a culture completely obsessed with celebrity. Perez Hilton is getting his own radio show. Are our lives so bad that we have to live vicariously through those in the upper echelons of society, at their expense? And why are they in the upper echelons? We put them there! Many of them haven't done much at all to be in the positions they are now. Mr. Hilton did a lot to build a hotel empire. But his daughters? They didn't do shit. But they're rich, blonde, and provide an occasional peep show for our ever increasingly voyeuristic society (see Twitter). I'm glad that South Park commented on this earlier this season, even if it was with one of the weirder episodes in its illustrious run. We perpetuate this - and why do we care so much? As the super-emo Chris Crocker once said, "LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE!"

Addictive Little Game
Ok, this is really cool. Thank you, Neatorama. It's a fun little flash game where you have to get the red ball to the flag by drawing shapes. Try it out, it's tougher to explain than to play it.

I am a Flash genius!
Ok, I spent forever trying to figure out flash. But I've created a masterpiece. I'm extremely proud of myself - you should be too! Instead of getting mindless, menial work done, I chose to advance my education in something worthwhile. It's never a waste of time if you're learning how to do something new (or relearning how to do something old). Even honing those skills is always a good way to further advance yourself (see guitar, xbox, and wii). You never know when you may have to make a looping music player in flash or take on mario, mr. game and watch, and ganondorf as zero suit samus. Anyway, hopefully I'll eventually make my own music player. I think I have a better idea of how it all works. Check out this awesome music player (only plays one song right now) that I spent a good deal of time working on. Some of you may recognize this song as the one I made when I was thinking about putting background music on my website.
